Chaired by Rural Vermont staff Graham Unangst-Rufenacht
Location: Vermont Law School
This meeting will explore the issue of solar siting in Vermont: how the process for siting works at the State and regional levels (within VT), how siting works for lands in conservation and agricultural easement, opportunities for grazing, how other State's processes compare with VT's, and some common concerns and tensions - with time for questions and discussions. We will also begin to discuss how farmland access organizations are adapting to changing needs in the farming community - determining how best to contribute to, or aid in the progression of this conversation. The Farmland Access and Stewardship Working Group focuses on strategies that expand farmland conservation, increase farmers’ access to affordable farmland, and promote best practices around agricultural land use and soil and water quality.
