Empty the Schools, Empty the Workplaces! Rural Vermont Joins Global Youth Strike

On September 20th, millions around the world will walk out of schools, workplaces, fields, and homes to join young climate strikers in the streets and demand an end to the age of fossil fuels. Rural Vermont joins the call for a just and inclusive transition towards comprehensive and immediate solutions to the climate crisis that are rooted in the respect for and dignity of all people, and that will protect and ensure the future of our earth and coming generations. The student strike kicks off a week of escalated climate actions across the state. Learn more here.

The Rural Vermont office will be closed on September 20th. Staff will be in the streets supporting youth-led actions and gleaning at local farms. Join us! Reducing food waste has been deemed the #3 way to combat climate change. Register with the Vermont Gleaning Collective to sign up for a local glean in your area. ***Please note that due to the unpredictability associated with farming and weather, locations for 9/20 gleaning opportunities will not be scheduled until early next week. Rest assured that opportunities will be ample!** For more information, contact mollie@ruralvermont.org.
